The Bullet Time soundtrack lets you reexperience the animated short’s frenetic energy and surreal storytelling—the pulse-pounding score offering the perfect mix of retro-gaming nostalgia and Saturday-morning mayhem. However, you could only listen to its music digitally until now.

Waxwork Records has released the five-track Bullet Time soundtrack on vinyl and cassette, completing the film’s retro aesthetic. Now, we can experience the short’s original music, composed by the legendary Danny Elfman, when and wherever we want.

Waxwork Records Released the Bullet Time Soundtrack on Cassette and Vinyl

The Battle Blast Online Gaming Tournament is here! To win, Bullet must give it his all and battle his way through the game’s bizarre digital universe. However, the emotionally unstable bull terrier must survive on any scrap of junk food he can find, all because he forgot to prepare for the event.

This is the frenetic, surreal, and hyper-stylized sci-fi world of Bullet Time. The animated short film is a love affair of old 90s Saturday morning cartoons and retro gaming nostalgia. Its wild visuals and absurd humor are matched only by its equally absurd, dynamic original score composed by Academy Award nominee Danny Elfman.

Elfman brought his signature style to the film. As such, he created a soundtrack that’s on par with his other works, such as The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman, and Beetlejuice.

Fortunately for Elfman fans, Waxwork Records released the Bullet Time Soundtrack digitally on July 23, 2025, to coincide with the film’s premiere at the 2025 Fantasia Festival. They also released the soundtrack physically on seven-inch vinyl and cassette.

Bullet Time Soundtrack Track List

Waxwork’s release of the Bullet Time soundtrack features five original tracks from the animated film. You can still find it for purchase on a deluxe seven-inch vinyl EP or on a cassette, or you can stream or download it from most digital music stores.

Here’s the track list:

  1. Bullet Time Theme
  2. Creepy
  3. Finale
  4. End Credits
  5. Bullet Time Battery Acid Mix

Waxwork placed the first four songs on Side A of the physical releases, and the Battery Acid Mix on Side B.

A Quick Review of the Soundtrack

The Bullet Time Theme song is a short, weird tune. I don’t even know if it can count as a tune. It just repeats “everything is awesome” several times.

Beyond the theme song, the soundtrack sounds like it’s trying to be a low-fi techno rock version of a Simpsons soundtrack. However, it ends up as something you make while on drugs. It’s not good at all.

At least, it’s short. There are only five tracks, and one is a remix of another. It might be good for a one-time listen, but I can’t recommend spending money on the physical release.

Where To Buy the Bullet Time Soundtrack

Waxwork Records released the Bullet Time Soundtrack album to most digital music stores, such as:

However, you must get the vinyl cassette versions directly from Waxwork’s website or from other specialty music stores such as Black Screen Records. However, you might get lucky and find them at places like Walmart. Both versions cost $15 each.

About the Bullet Time Animated Short

The Bullet Time animated short film is the brainchild of Eddie Alcazar, an up-and-coming American filmmaker known for his ‘Meta-Scope’ multi-technique approach to storytelling. It stars:

  • David Firth as The One
  • Eric Bauza as Bullet
  • Luis Bordonada as the game host
  • Ulyana as Kat

Alcazar created the film as a tribute to his pet dog, Bullet, who passed away shortly before production. He also made it as a tribute to the “Golden Age” of 1990s animation. The trailer is below for your convenience.

Indie animation is hit-and-miss, but it lets you try experimental stories and music. The Bullet Time soundtrack does well when paired with its visuals, but it’s a disaster on its own. If you want to try something that works, check out the Long Short Story soundtrack here.
