Cyberpunk and hip-hop, seemingly disparate genres, share common themes, including urban dystopia and rebellion. However, their fusion is a rare sight. This is about to change in 2026 when hip-hop legends Ice-T, Snoop Dogg, and Arabian Prince join forces to give us the Tehk City animated series.
Initially announced in 2022, the team has big plans for the adult neo-noir series. These include music, toy, and NFT deals, as well as potential collaborations with other hip-hop and animation icons. Keep reading to learn more about the project.
Hip-Hop Titans Will Adapt Death for Hire in Tehk City Animated Series
Ambitious Entertainment is set to revolutionize the world of adult animation with the arrival of Tehk City, a gritty, high-octane neo-noir series created and produced by some of hip-hop’s most iconic figures. Ice-T, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Arabian Prince, a founding member of N.W.A., are all on board for this ambitious project. Their collective vision promises to infuse the series with the raw energy of hip-hop culture, cutting-edge animation, and compelling storytelling, all set to a powerful soundtrack from Dr. Dre.
They have no definitive release date yet, but Ambitious Entertainment plans to release the series to multiple platforms.
The Creative Team Behind Tehk City
Based on the Dead for Hire comics series, Ambitious Entertainment’s Tehk City is co-created by Ice-T and Tommy The Animator, with Ice-T, Dr. Dre, Snoop, and Prince serving as executive producers. Dr. Dre will compose the original score, with each artist creating custom themes for their characters, merging their musical legacies with the show’s dark, cinematic world.
The star-studded voice cast includes:
- Ice-T as Mayor Chuck Davis
- Snoop Dogg as Pretty Black
- Arabian Prince as Kenyatta Prince
- Coco as Rhonda Knuckles
- Treach as Maniac Maxx
The Story and Setting of Tehk City
According to Ambitious Entertainment, Tehk City will remain faithful to the novel series as much as possible.
As such, it will follow the adventures of Mayor Davis and his cronies through their brutal, near-future penal colony where chaos reigns and only the ruthless survive. Through these adventures, Davis hopes to stay ahead of his competition, including the powerful Round Table Gang and Pretty Black, who own everything Davis doesn’t.
Concepts and Themes to Expect from the Tehk City Animated Series
During interviews, the crew claimed that the series will redefine what adult animation can be with Tehk City. To that end, the series will focus on a range of hard-hitting, complex themes and concepts, including:
- Power, Corruption, and Survival
- Crime and Betrayal
- Loyalty and Trust
- Social Commentary on Real-World Issues
- Hip-Hop Culture and Identity
- Morality and Choice
A Ground-Breaking Crossover Hip-Hop Crime Drama
Ambitious Entertainment claims their new series will be a bold step forward for the artists who helped define a generation. Only time can tell if they succeeded in making a world where sound, story, and culture collide. Either way, it should also have a great soundtrack, which I will add to my library as soon as it’s announced.
