Adventure Time: Volume 2 Soundtrack Album: Candy-Colored Ooo Trip
Hearing the Land of Ooo without the visuals is a special kind of joy, all things considered. The melody, mood, and the little musical jokes slip past you when you’re busy watching Finn and Jake sprint into danger.
Luckily, the Adventure Time: Volume 2 soundtrack album bottles that feeling. It’s basically part mixtape, part memory lane, and part behind-the-scenes peek at how much musical craft was hiding in the show’s weirdest corners.
Whether you’re here for heartfelt ballads, goofy character ditties, or the atmospheric score, the second volume is a satisfying way to hit play and let the sound of the series’ soundtrack surround you.
Why Volume 2 Hits Different
While Volume 1 feels like the show’s introduction, Adventure Time: Volume 2 feels more like a scrapbook from deeper into the series. In other words, the world is bigger, the emotions are sharper, and the music has more room to be gentle without winking at you every ten seconds.
As a result, the album showcases how much the soundtrack played into the show’s storytelling. For instance, a simple chord change can make jokes land softer. Meanwhile, a thin layer of synth can turn a “cute” location into a place with history. Furthermore, the shorter songs can convey the characters’ voices, emotions, and relationship subtext.
The Volume 2 Listening Experience
As I mentioned in my last review, I didn’t watch Adventure Time when it first aired, outside of a few clips. As a result, I must treat Volume 2 as a standalone listening experience. However, that can be tricky. That’s because most soundtrack albums are just highlight reels or piles of disconnected fragments.
Fortunately, Adventure Time: Volume 2 sits in a sweet spot where the variety is the point. The entire album feels like a radio play, giving you the show’s rhythm—comedy, wonder, dread, sweetness, then back to comedy—without having to commit to a full watch or rewatch.
Volume 2: The Sound of Ooo in One Playlist
Despite all that said, it’s genre soup, in the best way. That’s because the soundtrack can pivot between lo-fi folk, chiptune sparkle, and near-horror ambiance without feeling like a novelty act. While the sequencing does a lot of the glue work, so does the consistent “handmade” feeling, making the songs feel like personal anthems of the characters.
Furthermore, the motifs sneak up on you. Even when tracks are short, you can catch recurring melodic shapes and chord progressions that feel tied to specific characters or emotions.
As a result, you can easily see that the soundtrack was a part of the show’s storytelling language. Therefore, it’s perfect for Adventure Time fans and soundtrack enthusiasts who love “cozy worldbuilding” music. However, you should stay away if you prefer full-length, radio-ready songs.

Final Thoughts: Adventure Time Volume 2 feels like visiting Ooo
Overall, Adventure Time: Volume 2 reminds you why the show’s music stuck around long after episodes ended. It’s funny, vulnerable, and weirdly wise, sometimes all in the same minute. Put it on, and you’ll hear a world that’s colorful on purpose—not because it’s naïve, but because it knows how dark things can get.
However, that’s just my opinion. But what’s yours? Post your thoughts in the comments below. You can then:
