Cartoon Network Finally Released the Adventure Time Volume 1 Album in 2019

For the most part, Adventure Time is a musical adventure that jumps between candy-colored chaos and quietly devastating life lessons in the same episode. I’m not just the big viral earworms either, but the blink-and-you ’ll-miss-it ditties, character-theme fragments, and background cues that make the Land of Ooo a place where you could actually live.

So, it makes sense that it has an equally chaotic and corny soundtrack, which Cartoon Network would eventually release on May 1, 2029, as a five-album series.

For example, the first of these albums, Adventure Time, Volume 1 (Original Soundtrack), offered longtime fans a neat, streamable collection of music from the show’s first two seasons. At least 40 minutes long, the 48-track album features a mix of vocal snippets and mini-songs, with punchy instrumentals you’ll instantly associate with specific episodes.

What Adventure Time, Volume 1 Actually Ss (And Isn’t)

Consequently, a lot of Volume 1’s tracks are under a minute, which sounds odd until you remember how the show uses music. That is short, quick motif cues that sell jokes, underline a character beat, or turn ordinary scenes into something mythic.

So, the album might give you whiplash if you’re expecting a continuous, cinematic score. But if you treat it like a box of musical trading cards, with each one unlocking a memory, it becomes dangerously replayable.

Furthermore, it also spotlights how many voices had shaped the soundtrack:

  • Series creator Pendleton Ward
  • Olivia Olson
  • Jeremy Shada
  • John DiMaggio
  • Tom Kenny
  • Niki Yang
  • Biz Markie.

Why Volume 1 Still Hits in 2026: Character Development as Songs

Equally important, Adventure Time’s music rarely feels like “a musical number” dropped into a cartoon. Instead, it’s dialogue, stuff the characters would sing for 20 seconds while walking, when they’re nervous, or because it’s easier than admitting they’re scared.

On Volume 1, that range is certainly on full display. For example, you’ve got:

  • The surprisingly nostalgic “Adventure Time Main Title.
  • The especially angsty “I’m Just Your Problem.
  • The undeniably sweet and disarming “My Best Friends in the World.”
  • The markedly comedic “Gooey Gangsta” (featuring Biz Markie)
  • Gentle mood pieces such as “Hobo Dreams and Sun Floods.

It’s basically a sampler platter of everything the show could be.

Likewise, don’t sleep on the instrumentals either. That’s because tracks like “Pulse Duel,” “A City of Thieves,” or “Movie Filming Time” are instant scene triggers. As a result, you only need to hear a few notes to imagine the color palette, camera angles, and events of a specific scene. That’s rare for TV music, especially when the tracks are this short.

Where to Listen or Buy

You will also find it on Disc 1 of the Complete Collection’s vinyl release.

Final Thoughts: An Overall Good Time

Consequently, Adventure Time, Vol. 1 doesn’t try to “upgrade” the show’s music into something it isn’t, instead embracing the tiny format. For instance, that allows:

  • The jokes generally land in one chorus
  • The feelings hit emphatically in a single line
  • The little instrumentals basically repaint Ooo in your head.

While other soundtracks often aim for prestige or optimized polish, this album is proudly odd, compact, and specific—exactly like the series it came from.

But that’s just my take. So, what’s yours? Post your thoughts in the comments below as soon as possible.
