On August 5, 2026, Sony Classical Music unleashed the original Sausage Party Soundtrack upon the world. Since then, the 25-track album has provided some of the best animated film music around.

Keep reading to learn more about the album and where you can try it for yourself.

Sony Gave Us the Ultimate Adult Animated Sausage Party Soundtrack

When I posted my review of the Mating Season soundtrack, I realized that I hadn’t posted my review of the Sausage Party soundtrack yet. So, here we are, ten years after I started drafting it.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about. On August 12, 2016, Sony Pictures dropped the Sausage Party in theaters. Moreover, the animated adult comedy depicted various anthropomorphic food items as they try to discover the truth about grocery shopping.

Directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, the feature also stars:

  • Seth Rogen
  • Kristen Wiig
  • Jonah Hill
  • Bill Hader
  • Michael Cera
  • James Franco
  • Danny McBride
  • Craig Robinson
  • Paul Rudd
  • Nick Kroll

It’s generally something you only watch drunk, but people liked it enough to get a sequel series and numerous awards and nominations. However, its soundtrack definitely has more staying power.

Released by Sony Classical Music, the Sausage Party Soundtrack features 25 tracks from the original score and a few songs. All of which were released digitally, on vinyl, and on CD on August 5, 2016, a week prior to the film’s release.

The Sausage Party Soundtrack is Surprisingly Good.

All things considered, I wasn’t expecting much when I started listening to the Sausage Party Soundtrack for this review. That’s because I never watched the film and have no reason to watch it now. So, I only had the film’s description and reviews for my initial opinions.

However, the album met or exceeded my expectations. That’s because it doesn’t feel like an animated adult film soundtrack. Instead, most of it is your classic Hollywood symphonic sound. Sure, there are some vocal tracks. But they also sound like standard movie fare, and not the typical skits you find on similar albums.

Overall, what composers Alan Menken and Christopher Lennertz created is most definitely enjoyable and replayable. This is a fun album you can play for any occasion, especially if you want something Mexican-sounding.

Final Thoughts

Adult animation is a rather interesting genre of soundtrack music. While most albums rely entirely on their explicit lyrics, some do have more thought put into them. The Sausage Party Soundtrack is one of them. While true to its source material, it’s just a good piece of cinematic sound.

But that’s just my take on it. What’s yours? Post your thoughts in the comments below, then check out my review of its sequel here.
