My Brother the Minotaur Soundtrack Album Is Here—And It’s Mythic, Melodic, and Weirdly Emotional
Clear your schedule because Apple just gave us a brand-new animated, family-friendly, modern fantasy adventure. They call it My Brother the Minotaur, and it follows the misadventures of Lorcan, a young minotaur raised in the human world, as he tries to discover who he is before darker forces decide for him.
While it’s a good story about self-discovery and brotherhood, they didn’t stop there. They gave us the soundtrack as well, and it really drives home the show’s vibe—folklore-meets-friendship, a touch of mystery, and big “found family” feelings.
Furthermore, this album, titled My Brother The Minotaur (Apple Original Series Soundtrack), features the music composed by Christian Henson, with additional songs co-written with (and sung by) Sally Stenning.
Apple released the whole thing digitally through Platoon Records today, April 24, 2026, to coincide with the series’ global debut. As a result, you can listen to it right after you finish binge-watching the series on Apple TV. Or do what I did, and listen to the album as a standalone EP.
Meet the Composers
As stated above, all the music on the soundtrack to My Brother the Minotaur was written and performed by Christian Henson and Sally Stenning.
Henson is no stranger to either television or streaming. Film music buffs will easily recognize the unique story-first philosophy of his music, which often features psychological landscapes such as:
- Heartbeat-like percussion
- Strings that tighten like a secret
- Hopeful harmonies that contrast their darker moments
However, this might be your first taste of Sally Stenning. That’s because she only had two credits to name before this one: 2022’s Inside No. 9 and 2023’s The Killing Kind.
What Does the My Brother the Minotaur Soundtrack Sound Like (Without Spoilers)
During interviews, Henson described his overall approach as “Folk John Williams”. That is big, thematic storytelling, but grounded in Celtic and Gaelic-flavored instrumentation.
That description really does land. The soundtrack does, in fact, feature warm, lyrical motifs that feel like they belong to bedtime stories. It also has a sweeping momentum that makes scenes legendary at a moment’s notice.
Furthermore, the best cues here don’t sit politely under the action either. They continuously move the narrative, shading the world with wonder when it’s safe and sharpening the edges when it isn’t.
And then there are the intimate, almost spell-like, folk vocal tracks. Stenning’s voice gives the score a human heartbeat that playfully dances around the orchestration. The result is exactly what you want for a coming-of-age fantasy about a friend group that fights fate, monsters, and secrets that only show up in dreams.

Final Thoughts: Why is This Album Worth a Full Listen
This is a soundtrack you want to play front to back, even if you’re usually a “soundtrack cherry-picker”. It flows like a mini quest of its own—introductions, discoveries, threats on the horizon, and those calmer stretches where the story has room to breathe.
It also highlights something we animation fans already know. Music does most of a show’s world-building heavy lifting. From the music alone, we can easily sense when the story turns whimsical, wholesome, or intense, without feeling random.
But that’s just my take. Now, what’s yours?” Post your thoughts in the comments below, before checking out my other animation soundtrack reviews.
