Netflix Releases “You Can’t Run From Me” Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Single
Netflix has a knack for quality video game adaptations. So, it was no surprise that they would make one for Cyberpunk 2077, a cyberpunk first-person shooter (FPS) from CD Projekt Red. And apparently it was successful, since they recently announced that the anime, produced by Studio Trigger, would get a second season.
Moreover, they also announced that this Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 would get a soundtrack release. However, while we must wait for the Fall for the anime, we can enjoy the music now. That’s because they also recently released the first single off it.
The four-minute track is called “You Can’t Run From Me”, and it’s among the most cyberpunk soundtrack songs I have ever heard. The track certainly fits the show’s vibe, as seen in the new trailer that dropped alongside it.
Performed by Rico Nasty, the song is a distorted, hard-rack track with heavy textures and fast tempos. It definitely pumps you up like you’re getting ready for your next FPS match. And given the source material, that’s likely intentional. As a result, you get a hard rock tune that works well on its own, regardless of your situation.
What is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2
If you’re like me and this is your first time hearing about a Netflix adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077, let me break it down for you.
As I noted above, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is an original animated series from Studio Trigger and Netflix. It’s also been streaming on the digital movie platform since September 13, 2022.
Originally created as a miniseries, the show basically follows the canonical plot of the CD Projekt Red game. As a result, it follows the misadventures of David Martinez, a street kid trying to survive in Night City’s criminal underworld. Consequently, he works as an edgerunner, a cybernetically-enhanced mercenary also known as a cyberpunk.
A Standalone Cyberpunk Adaptation
Despite all this, the series is a standalone side story. In other words, it’s a non-canonical tie-in to the game. However, it has received numerous awards and acclaim for its writing, characters, action, animation, music, and worldbuilding. It was so successful that even the game saw significant sales increases since its premiere.
Now, four years after the series premiered, Netflix is giving it a second season. Additionally, they’re calling the new season Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, saying it’ll be a standalone sequel that may or may not connect to the first. However, they also said that we must wait until this fall to watch it.
Until then, we get to enjoy the new Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 single they dropped as well as the trailer, which you can watch below.

Final Thoughts on the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 Single
“You Can’t Run From Me” is a fun hard rock tune that works equally well on its own or paired with the new Cyberpunk: Edgerunners trailer. It truly sounds like what you want to hear while watching a dark and foreboding dystopian cyberpunk story.
However, that’s just my take. What’s yours?
