Lakeshore Records released the Animal Farm Soundtrack on May 1, 2026, generally to coincide with the animated film’s premiere. They also included 42 tracks on the album, featuring selections from the original score along with some of the songs.

Lakeshore Released the Animal Farm Soundtrack
In short, on May 1, 2026, Angel Studios gave us their latest animated feature, Animal Farm. The film is generally based on George Orwell’s novella with a few modifications. As a result, the film follows a group of farm animals after they overthrow the human owners of their farm.
Meanwhile, the film’s musical support came from an original score from Heitor Pereira. Pereira is no stranger to animation, of course, scoring es such hits as Despicable Me, The Angry Birds Movie, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, Paw Patrol: The Movie, Minions, and The Smurfs. So, his music should fit Animal Farm without any problems.
Then, there’s British DJ Carl Cox, who provided three songs to the film. If you don’t know who he is, just know that this is his soundtrack debut. So, you’re in good company. However, he does seem to be big in the UK music scene and was delighted to have “the chance to create music for a film”.
And now, we get to listen to his music to see if he’s worthy of that film composer title. All thanks to Lakeshore Records, who released the Animal Farm Soundtrack digitally on the same day as the film. Moreover, they gave us the complete soundtrack with 42 tracks, totaling over an hour of music.
My Review of the Animal Farm Soundtrack
Speaking of the music, Pereira gave the Animal Farm Soundtrack an ethereal, rural vibe. That’s because everything evokes being outside on the farm with the animals, complete with the sounds of nature.
On the other hand, Cox decided to give it a schoolyard funk, with nearly every lyric evoking a nursery rhyme. For example, his song “Break Down the Barn” is a remix of “Old McDonald Had a Farm” with nods to the film’s story.
That’s quite a swing in tone, especially since Cox’s songs were shuffled among the score tracks. So, it goes from an intense hillbilly aesthetic to an urban diss track, and then back again. As a result, you might feel a bit of musical whiplash if you’re not prepared for it.
Now that said, the soundtrack is decent enough as it is. The two musicians are obviously talented, and their music does fit with the Animal Farm vibe. However, the dissonance between them harms the soundtrack as a whole.
That’s unfortunate since better mixing would have either reduced or removed that issue. But as it stands, the soundtrack is only worth listening to maybe once or twice before moving on to better pastures.
About the 2025 Animal Farm Movie
As for the film itself, the aptly titled Animal Farm: A Cautionary Tale is the third adaptation of Orwell’s novel. Directed by Andy Serkis, it stars Seth Rogen, Gaten Matarazzo, Steve Buscemi, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Laverne Cox, Woody Harrelson, Jim Parsons, and Serkis himself. Where To Listen
Final Thoughts
As I have noted, the Animal Farm Soundtrack is a mixed bag. Individually, the tracks are great, all things considered. They’re musically sound, and basically fit the vibe of the film. However, I just don’t know if they work as a complete package.
