On May 29, 2026, Walt Disney released Disney Jr’s Sofia the First Royal Magic Soundtrack. Moreover, this 12-track album features all of the show’s songs, including its main theme song, along with a music video.

Walt Disney Released Disney Jr.’s First Sofia the First: Royal Magic Soundtrack Album
While it took them a decade to give us the sequel, Walt Disney didn’t waste any time giving us its soundtrack. That’s because they dropped what they are calling the first Sofia the First: Royal Magic Soundtrack album on May 29, 2026, days after the series premiered.
That’s right! Sofia the First is back with a brand-new series on Disney Jr. and Disney+. There’s also a soundtrack album featuring the show’s 12 original songs performed by the voice cast. Moreover, series creator Craig Gerber wrote the music with help from veteran animation composers John Kavanaugh, Keith Harrison Dworkin, and Matthew Tishler.
Disney released the album digitally through most music apps under its own Walt Disney Records label. So, you should be able to find it on your favorite app. Although I posted a few suggestions in my collector’s guide for the album below.
There’s Also a Music Video
If the full Sofia the First: Royal Magic Soundtrack is too much for you, you can settle for just the opening theme song. That’s because Disney released it and the album’s second track, “Time to Shine”, as singles on April 3, 2026, nearly a month before the series’ premiere.
They even released a music video for the main theme, which doubles as a trailer for the show. I attached it below for your convenience.
Some Details on the Sofia the First: Royal Magic Show
But before we get to all that, let me introduce you to the show, in case this is the first time you’re hearing about it.
As I have noted above, Sofia the First: Royal Magic is the sequel to the Emmy Award-winning series Sofia the First, which first premiered in 2012. The brainchild of Craig Gerber, it followed the misadventures of a young peasant girl, Sofia, who discovered she was next in line for the throne.
That original show is one of Disney’s most successful for preschool girls, still holding the record for the top 3 cable TV telecasts in that age group. So, it makes sense that it would get a sequel.
The new show continues Sofia’s misadventures as she tries to learn magic at the prestigious Charmswell School for Royal Magic. It was also warmly embraced by fans, who noted it was everything they hoped for. That’s good news for Disney since they already announced Season 2 for next year.

My Review of the Sofia the First: Royal Magic Soundtrack
As for the music, I wasn’t expecting much from it, mostly because it’s another Disney princess show. These shows have their own music genre, so I expected more of the same. Now, don’t get me wrong. I love a good Disney princess tune every now and then. But they have a very specific target audience, and I’m most definitely not in it.
Fortunately, the Sofia the First: Royal Magic Soundtrack is very well done for what it is. Sure, it definitely leans into that showtune-for-kids aesthetic. But that’s a part of its charm. It’s quirky and playful enough for even us adults to enjoy, with or without our kids.
What’s more, you can listen to it with or without the visuals. That’s because the tracks are arranged chronologically as they play in the show. Thus, you can get the gist of the story from just the music. And given the praise the show gets, it also works well as a soundtrack as well. That’s an impressive feat even for Disney. It’s definitely worth a listen or two.

Final Thoughts
Preschool soundtracks rarely work outside their target demo. But the Sofia the First: Royal Magic Soundtrack bucks that trend, offering something enjoyable for both kids and their parents. However, you don’t even need kids to enjoy it. In other words, it’s the perfect mix of that classic Disney sound.
