Kids love animals. Some even wonder what it would be like to be an animal. They imagine what it would be like to walk like an animal. What would it be like to talk like an animal? What would their Hoppers score? Luckily, Pixar’s new movie will give them answers.

Pixar hired Mark Mothersbaugh to write the music for the Hoppers’ score. The animated feature about hopping into animal robots will arrive in theaters in 2026.

Disney also released a trailer for the film. Keep reading to learn more about the movie. You can then see if it will be a good movie for you, your kids, or both.

Pixar Hired Mark Mothersbaugh for Hoppers Score

Children love playing with animals. You can give a child a pet to make their day or life. They also love robots and often dream about what it is like to be one.

Pixar Animation’s next animated feature, Hoppers, combines the two into a tale reminiscent of James Cameron’s Avatar films. It follows the misadventures of a child whose consciousness is transferred (or “hopped”) to an android bear to talk to animals.

The movie, directed by Daniel Chong (We Bare Bears), will arrive in theaters on March 6, 2026. It stars:

  • Piper Curda
  • Bobby Moynihan
  • Jon Hamm

For the Hoppers score, Pixar hired veteran composer Mark Mothersbaugh.

Hoppers Score and Concept Art

The Hoppers Score is Mothersbaugh’s First Pixar Film.

Despite being an industry veteran, the Hoppers score music is Mothersbaugh first major Pixar soundtrack. His previous work for the studio included:

  • Toy Story: Hawaiian Vacation
  • Various shorts from the Cars franchise

Beyond Pixar, Mothersbaugh’s previous work included 21/22 Jump Street, Thor: Ragnarok, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The LEGO Movie, The Croods: A New Age, A Minecraft Movie, and The Royal Tenenbaums.

Pixar Hoppers Trailer and Thoughts

Hoppers uses the traditional Pixar animation style to bring its tale to life. Some of the sets look photo-realistic, especially when they show outdoor scenes. The exaggerated proportions break the illusion, though, showcasing how far 3D CGI has become.

The story appears to be fun, but it lacks innovation. Transferring your consciousness into machines has been a staple of cyberpunk since its inception. However, the movie seems to present the concept as a parody, poking fun at it numerous times.

We must wait until the movie releases to check out Mothersbaugh’s Hoppers score music. While the trailer has music, we don’t know if they used the film’s soundtrack or some generic trailer music. Either way, you can watch the trailer below.

More About Pixar Hoppers Score and Soundtrack

We also must wait a year to see if Hoppers will be as entertaining as Pixar’s earlier films. The music should be good regardless. Once they release information on it, I will post it here on Toon Radio.
