Lakeshore released a 7-track Dang Soundtrack album for the Netflix animated comedy. The album features all the songs from the show, but none of the score except for the show’s opening and ending themes.

Lakeshore Released the Dang Soundtrack for Netflix
Adult animation gets weird once again with Netflix’s latest animated comedy, Dang. This time, we follow a trio of dysfunctional siblings who must live together. And of course, their misadventures play out to the delightful sounds of an original score from Emmy Award winner Leo Birenberg.
All eight episodes are already available on Netflix, but you don’t need a Netflix account to listen to the music. That’s because Lakeshore Records released the Dang Soundtrack digitally to most music services.
However, the album contains only two score pieces. The first one is the main title theme, while the other is the ending theme. The rest of the album is basically the show’s three songs and their remixes.
A Review of the Dang Soundtrack
Since the Dang Soundtrack is so short, I can review each track individually.
“Dang Main Title Theme”
The Main Theme is basically musical trash. It’s extremely generic with repeated guitar riffs and distorted percussion. It also gets annoying very quickly, and that disappoints me. Birenberg previously made some excellent soundtracks, including Cobra Kai and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. So, it’s sad to hear this drivel from him.
“Come Inside of Me”
Now, I have no idea what Leland and Andrew Law were smoking when they wrote this track, but it’s definitely more musically decent than the main theme. It’s also the show’s main single. So, its interesting lyrics make sense.
It’s also listed twice. That’s because Matt Rogers recorded two versions of the song. The “Worship Version” presents itself as gospel music, despite being entirely inappropriate for such a role. It’s a good folksong for what it is, nonetheless.
On the other hand, the “Club Remix” sounds like what you would expect for such a song. It’s your generic pop song, but that’s what makes the song work.
“Rude”
“Rude” is, of course, a cover of the Magic song. It’s also diegetic, sung by the show’s characters. However, unlike the original pop song, this version is an acapella. It’s just the performers singing with little or no musical accompaniment. And honestly, I think it’s also the better version of the song.
“Yesterday Once More”
“Yesterday Once More” is another cover, since it’s a cover of the Carpenters’ song. It’s also listed twice on the Dang Soundtrack. The first is a score leitmotif “Erhu Version” by Birenberg. It’s also the shortest track on the album, coming in at just 35 seconds.
Then, there’s grentperez’s version of the song. Musically, it’s a slow pop song that’s mostly a direct cover of the original. So, it’s good enough to have its own radio airplay. In other words, it’s the only track on the album that truly works as a standalone track.
Ending Theme
Finally, we get to the ending theme. Musically, it’s slightly better than the main titles, but I wouldn’t call it good. That’s because it suffers from the same issues as the main theme. It’s like Birenberg didn’t know what to do and just threw something together overnight.
What is Netflix’s Dang!?
As for the show, Netflix’s Dang, stylized as “Dang!”, is an adult animated comedy, as I have said above. And as I have said before, it follows the misadventures of a trio of siblings who must live together in their New York City apartment.
It also stars:
- Stephanie Hsu
- Poppy Liu
- Andrew Law (who also created and wrote the series)
The other voice actors include Noël Wells, Jared Goldstein, Edi Patterson, SungWon Cho, Al Roberts, and Adam Pally.
The show is also only eight 30-minute episodes long, all of which are already on Netflix. That makes it short enough so you can quickly binge-watch it before getting back to listening to the Dang Soundtrack.

Final Thoughts on the Dang Soundtrack
All things considered, the Dang Soundtrack should have been a great album, similar to Netflix’s Strip Law and Long Story Short. However, what we got is a bit hit or miss. Sure, it has moments of brilliance, but the whole package leaves much to be desired.
However, that’s just my opinion. But what’s yours? Post your thoughts in the comments below.
