Trolls World Tour Score Coming from Theodore Shapiro

Trolls World Tour Score

DreamWorks brought in Thomas Shapiro to replace Christophe Beck as the composer to write the Trolls World Tour score.

DreamWorks Trolls World Tour Score from Shapiro

The Trolls franchise is a story about the power of music, and the new film is no different. It travels with Poppy and Branch to discover other troll tribes around the world. In the end, they learn there are six of these tribes, and each represents a different genre of music. There are tribes for Rock, Funk, Techno, Country, Pop, and Classical music.

The emphasis on music requires an excellent soundtrack to showcase the majesty. While Beck’s music was okay for the 2016 original Trolls film, DreamWorks Animation decided that Shapiro was a much better fit for the sequel. They probably liked what Shapiro wrote for them for their 2017 feature Captain Underpants.

The movie could just go with Shapiro’s music, but the score will not stand alone. Producer Gina Shay brought in a boatload of musical talent to the film which Universal Pictures plans to release on April 17, 2020.

Trolls World Tour Trailer

I did not watch the previous Trolls films. They did not look like my type of film, and the trailer for Trolls 3 didn’t change this. I may catch it on TV if it pops up. If you did watch the other two films, try to change my mind in the comments below. In the meantime, you can read about Shapiro’s other upcoming animated film Spies in disguise.
