DreamWorks brought in Thomas Shapiro to replace Christophe Beck as the composer to write the Trolls World Tour score.
20th Century Fox hired Theodore Shapiro to write the score for their upcoming animated comedy Spies in Disguise. While not his first animated film score, the film will be Shapiro’s first major one.
Theodore Shapiro To Write Spies in Disguise Music
Theodore Shapire is joining the crew headed by directors Nick Bruno and Troy Quane. “Spies in Disguise” will also feature Michael J. Travers as producer with the voices of Will Smith and Tom Holland.
The film expands the story presented in the 2009 short “Pigeon: Impossible” and follows a secret agent who triggers a global conflict with a pigeon stuck in a nuclear, government-issued briefcase. 20th Century Fox plans to have the Blue Sky Studios production in theaters on April 19, 2019.
As mentioned before, “Spies in Disguise” is not the first film to feature music from Theodore Shapiro. He also wrote the music for the 2012 British stop motion film “The Pirates! Bad of Misfits” and 2017’s “Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie“. However, Shapiro is more known for is live action films such as “Zoolander 2“, “Not Another Teen Movie“, and “Dodgeball“.
A Blue Sky Film That is Not Ice Age
“Spies in Disguise” will also be Blue Sky’s thirteen animated film. It is also their follow up for their 2017 production “Ferdinand“, though you may know the studio for their Ice Age film series. I am not sure why they went with Shapiro and no their old main stay composer John Powel. The movie might work for Blue Sky in the end, but it is unusual for studios to do that. Only time will tell if Powel fans have something fear. Until then, Blue Sky fans can enjoy the music of Shapiro once “Spies in Disguise” hits theaters next year.
