Gotham 20 Under The Knife
The hunt for the Ogre continues as Gotham goes Under The Knife. Lives are at stake and the Ogre takes many forms. Who is your Ogre? Do you have the fortitude to bring him to justice like James Gordon in Episode 20 of Gotham?
We begin with the Ogre threatening Gordon by phone. He will kill someone Gordon loves if he does not stop the pursuit. Now more determined, Gordon and Bullock continue their investigation of the Ogre’s first victim. They discover that the Ogre is Jason Skolomsky, the son of a Butler that was rejected by his stepmother. He also changed his face and identity when he found his first victim. Gordon eventually realizes that he met the Ogre from a Charity Gallery he visited long ago with Barbara. Thus, Barbara will be the Ogre’s next victim. Along the way, Nygma takes the first step towards being the Riddler by killing Tom Dougherty, Kristin Kryngle’s boyfriend and abuser.
Meanwhile, Cobblepot has to deal with an Irish mob boss, Maroni telling his mother that he is a killer, and his plot to kill Maroni. I wish Oswald good luck in his ventures. He’s a Class A rogue. SO, I know he will do well for himself, but it is good to see how he gets there.
To wrap things up, Bruce and Selina continue their investigation into Wayne Enterprises by attending a Charity Ball together. The two are cute together, but the two come with bad news. Upon learning of Barbara’s venture with the Ogre, Gordon vows to find her while the Ogre shows Barbara his BDSM collection.
The Ogre is an interesting final boss for the season. I don’t know he is the right villain for a finale, but we have to see where FOX is going with this. He’s not an A level rogue. So, we have no real incentive to watch. We are entirely relying on the main cast to bring us in these last few weeks. There is nothing wrong with that. It means the production crew trust the skills of their talent, but it does not bring in new viewers. If I wasn’t already watching Gotham, I would not have a reason to start watching new.
Let’s how FOX knows what they are doing with this. We got two episodes left. Let’s see if they go out in a bang! I will attempt to post my review on Monday’s episode an hour or two after it airs in the East. Until then, post your own reviews of Under The Knife in the comments below while you read my Gotham Episode 19 review here.
